01 -
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg, stirring until a sticky dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
02 -
In a small bowl, blend softened butter with minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, and salt until smooth and fragrant.
03 -
Once risen, roll the dough into a large rectangle approximately the size of a baking tray. Spread the garlic herb butter evenly over the surface. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar or Parmesan cheese generously on top.
04 -
Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log. Slice the log lengthwise into two long strips, then twist the strips together to reveal the cheese and herb layers. Place the twisted dough into a greased loaf pan or arrange freely on a baking sheet.
05 -
Cover the shaped bread and allow it to rest for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bake until the loaf is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling, about 30 minutes.
06 -
Let the bread cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm to enjoy the gooey cheese and buttery garlic herb layers.
