Quick Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese (Printer-Friendly)

Mozzarella, marinara, and crispy chicken meet in buttery bread for a classic Italian-inspired sandwich, done in minutes.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Main Components

01 - 4 slices sturdy sourdough or Italian bread, approximately 1/2-inch thick
02 - 4 ounces fresh whole milk mozzarella, sliced
03 - 2 breaded chicken cutlets, fully cooked and warmed
04 - 1/3 cup marinara sauce, warmed
05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Steps to Make This:

01 - Set a nonstick skillet or grill pan over medium heat and allow it to come to temperature.
02 - Spread a thin, even layer of softened butter over one side of each bread slice.
03 - Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, onto the preheated skillet.
04 - Arrange half of the mozzarella evenly on each bread slice in the skillet.
05 - Place one warmed breaded chicken cutlet on top of the cheese for each sandwich.
06 - Spoon marinara sauce evenly over the chicken cutlets.
07 - Layer remaining mozzarella slices over the marinara.
08 - Close each sandwich with a remaining bread slice, buttered side facing up.
09 - Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until bread is golden brown, cheese is melted, and the exterior is crisp.
10 - Remove sandwiches from skillet, let rest for 1 minute. Cut in half and serve hot.

# Additional Notes:

01 - For best results, use room temperature cheese and sauce for optimal melting. Cooking over medium heat ensures even browning and avoids burning the bread.
02 - Fresh herbs like basil or oregano may be layered with the cheese for added flavor. Use leftover chicken parmesan to streamline preparation.
