01 -
In a large bowl, whisk together instant brown gravy mix and water until smooth and free of lumps. Set aside.
02 -
In a separate bowl, gently fold ground beef, finely diced onions, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper until evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to prevent toughness.
03 -
Shape the beef mixture into five evenly sized patties, pressing just enough to hold their form.
04 -
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced onions and mushrooms, stirring occasionally for 3 to 4 minutes until softened and beginning to brown. Push vegetables to one side of the skillet.
05 -
Place patties in the skillet next to the vegetables. Cook undisturbed for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until patties reach an internal temperature of 165 °F and develop a crust.
06 -
Carefully drain excess grease from the pan. Reduce heat to medium, pour in the prepared gravy, and stir gently to incorporate onions, mushrooms, and pan drippings. Stir frequently until gravy thickens and coats the patties.
07 -
Transfer patties and generous amounts of gravy to serving plates. Optionally, spoon extra onions and mushrooms on top. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
