Farmhouse Pulled Pork (Printer-Friendly)

Tender pork shoulder slow-cooked with BBQ sauce and spices for a flavorful, versatile meal everyone enjoys.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Pork

01 - 8 lbs pork shoulder roast, bone-in, fat side up

→ Seasoning

02 - 2 tablespoons seasoned salt (e.g., McCormick Applewood seasoning)

→ Liquids

03 - 1 cup soda (e.g., Cherry Coke or preferred flavor)

→ Sauce

04 - 28 ounces barbecue sauce (e.g., Sweet Baby Ray’s)

# Steps to Make This:

01 - Spray the slow cooker insert with non-stick cooking spray or line with a slow cooker liner for easy cleanup.
02 - Rub seasoned salt evenly over the pork shoulder roast, ensuring full coverage.
03 - Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker with the fat side facing up. Pour soda gently around the sides of the roast without washing off the seasoning.
04 - Cover and cook on low heat for 10 to 12 hours or on high heat for 7 to 9 hours until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
05 - Remove any bones and carefully drain excess liquid if desired. Shred the pork using forks, then mix thoroughly with barbecue sauce.
06 - Turn slow cooker to the warm setting and stir occasionally while serving to maintain even heat.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Use a slow cooker of at least 6 quarts capacity to accommodate the pork shoulder adequately.
02 - For best results, cook low and slow to ensure tender, easily shreddable pork.
03 - If the pork is tough, continue cooking until it shreds easily with forks.
04 - Limit the amount of soda added since the pork releases juices during cooking.
