Crispy Air Fryer Apple Sticks (Printer-Friendly)

Golden apple sticks with a fragrant spiced crust, air fried to a crisp and tender finish.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 3 Granny Smith apples, sliced into ½ inch sticks

→ Dry Coating

02 - ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
05 - ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
06 - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, divided

→ Finishing

07 - Cooking spray

# Steps to Make This:

01 - Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Peel if a softer texture is preferred, or leave the peel on for added bite and nutrition. Slice into uniform ½ inch sticks to ensure even cooking.
02 - Combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and half of the powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Whisk until evenly blended to form a fragrant spiced coating.
03 - Lightly toss apple sticks in the dry mixture until fully coated. For extra crunch, optionally dip the sticks in beaten egg before coating.
04 - Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
05 - Arrange the coated apple sticks in a single layer in the basket. Lightly spray the tops with cooking oil. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even crispness. Watch carefully in the final minutes to avoid burning.
06 - Immediately toss the hot apple fries with the remaining powdered sugar or serve alongside dips such as caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for enhanced flavor.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Leaving the peel on boosts fiber content and adds texture. Store leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container for up to one day; reheat briefly in the air fryer to restore crispness.
02 - Replacing all-purpose flour with cornstarch creates a gluten-free version. Brown sugar can substitute powdered sugar for a richer sweetness, altering texture slightly.
